AI In Food Processing - Supply Chain

Preamble

  • Food supply chains are among the most complex and risk-exposed in the world. Perishability, seasonality, fragmented sourcing networks, multi-temperature logistics, regulatory traceability requirements, and unpredictable consumer demand create a uniquely challenging operating environment, one where small inefficiencies compound into significant losses. Artificial Intelligence is transforming how food companies plan, procure, move, store, and deliver their products. From AI-powered demand sensing that reduces overstock and stock-outs, to machine vision systems that detect quality defects on the production line, to intelligent route optimization that slashes last-mile delivery costs; AI is no longer a future consideration. It is the competitive standard being set today by leading food companies globally.

  • This 60-hour program, designed by FICSI, equips supply chain and logistics professionals in the food sector with the knowledge, frameworks, and hands-on tool experience to deploy AI effectively in their operations. Every module is built around the specific realities of food supply chains in India, from farm-to-fork traceability challenges and cold chain infrastructure gaps, to the explosive growth of quick commerce and the complexity of managing multi-state distribution networks.

Program Philosophy

This is an upskilling program for Food Industry Marketing Professionals.

  • Three principles guide every design decision in this program:

  • Operations-first: Every concept is introduced through a real supply chain problem before the AI solution is presented.

  • Food-specific: Examples, data, case studies, and exercises are drawn entirely from food and FMCG supply chain contexts, not generic manufacturing or retail.

  • Tool-hands-on: Participants engage directly with AI platforms during every module. No prior technical background is assumed.

Training Outcome

  • Understand the AI landscape as it applies to food supply chains, from predictive analytics to generative AI and autonomous systems.

  • Apply AI tools to demand planning, procurement, cold chain monitoring, logistics optimization, warehouse management, and traceability.

  • Evaluate AI-generated recommendations critically and make better-informed operational decisions.

  • Design an AI adoption roadmap for their supply chain function within a food company.

  • Navigate the ethical, regulatory, and data governance dimensions of AI in food operations.

Eligibility

  • Graduate / Post-graduate in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Food Technology, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline. Diploma holders with 3+ years of relevant supply chain or operations experience are also eligible.

  • Minimum 2 years in a supply chain, procurement, logistics, warehouse, quality, or operations role, preferably within the food, FMCG, agri-food, food processing, or food retail sector

  • Comfortable working with operational data, reports, and spreadsheets.
